The Waiting Game

We saw our doctor on Monday for a check-up and he told us that birth does not seem to be imminent. Granted, we do have three more weeks until the official due date, but we're both getting increasingly excited to officially meet our little guy so we're sort of hoping to hear that he might come a little early to begin his life outside my womb. Not to mention the other benefits that will come to the mom-to-be when Baby is no longer living inside her--like being able to easily tie her shoes and get out of a seated position without a lot of concentration and hoisting!

However, while we're waiting, we're determined to do our best to enjoy the freedoms of being childless--sleeping in, spontaneously leaving the house in under 5 minutes, having long uninterrupted conversations etc.--because we expect it to be a LONG time until we have these particular privileges again.

The good news is that the baby is doing well. He's only slightly ahead of the weight scale (2.85 kg/6.3 lbs) so our doctor thinks a normal delivery (and on a normal time scale) will not be a problem. In the meantime, our little one continues to wiggle around each day (as much as that is possible in his cramped, confined home) strengthening his muscles and making Mommy's tummy change shapes. The other day, our baby was showing off the outline of his tiny foot yet again, but this time there was no need for an ultrasound picture to determine which body part was being presented to his parents--it was clearly visible all on its own!
