Easter Fun

Eating a "Rainbow Popcicle" that Lukas and I made at the beginning of his spring break

The Easter eggs we made together

Ready to go on the Community Easter Egg Hunt in the rain--we found out upon arrival that it was canceled

Isabel finding her first, and only, candy-filled Easter egg. Read further to find out why:

1) She opened it soon after finding it

2) Spent some time putting a few candies back in one by one

3) Placing M&M number 5 in the egg

4) After taste-testing M&M number 6, all subsequent M&M's were eaten and this Chocolate Lover decided there was no need to search further with so much delicious treasure in just one egg!

Lukas has a grand time finding all of the other eggs, chocolate carrots and chocolate chicks for which his sister neglected to search!

Moments in the Life of Isabel

Isabel is busy all the time and does a great job of occupying herself with fun "games" she invents for herself.  Here are a few of her recent activities this month and last.

She turned one of our baskets into a hat and played peekabo with it for a good 10 minutes.
Here she is playing the peekabo part

One sunny, but cold morning, she decided she wanted to go outside and asked (by repeated pointing) for each of her coats hanging up on the pegs in our mud room.  She wasn't satisfied until she had all of them on.

Swinging on our playset
Blending something in the "play" kitchen

So proud to be wearing the oven mit!

Eating string cheese--one of her favorite snacks

Playing with Papa's baseball cap like a girl--putting it on like a bonnet
Feeding herself yogurt
Yum!

Lukas' Weekend with his Class Mascot

Lukas had a weekend at the end of March with his class mascot, a hedgehog puppet. The children in his class are called "Igelkinder", which translated is "Hedgehog Children". They named the puppet at the beginning of the year. Lukas suggested "Ben", but he was the only one who voted for that sensible name--the majority voted for "Igel Blauer Fisch", meaning "Hedgehog Blue Fish" because they had been reading a book about a rainbow-colored fish in class that day.

He was so excited to take the mascot for the second time this year and we did many fun activities and brought the puppet along, of course. Here are some of the things we did that weekend.

Lukas is learning to play soccer in an eight-week class at our community center on Saturday mornings. He is really enjoying it so we may sign him up for another round in the summer!

Lukas loves building things out of wood. Olli took him to build a "Fortune Teller" at the Lowe's Build and Grow.

Here he is with the finished product

Lukas graduated to a new car seat last month and Isabel is now riding in his old one--she loves facing forward and Lukas likes his new seat too so it's a win-win situation!

Lukas was so inspired by Grandpa's bird-feeder that he wanted to build his own. Here he is after building it with his Papa.

We decided to hang it outside on a pole on our back deck, but since no birds have visited it yet, we may need to move it to another location.
