A Trip Down Memory Lane

It brought me so much joy to see Isabel wear a dress today at church that I once wore when I was about her age!  This special dress was one of three that I kept from my childhood.  She'll have to be much older to wear the other two, and she might not even want to wear them since they're "dated" in their style. I'm glad that this one fits her now during a time when she isn't too concerned with the current fashion trend. The "winning point" for this outfit, in her mind at least, was the matching purse. She filled it with some clear lip gloss and a pack of tissues and carried it around all day!

She told me today on the way into the nursery, "I'm dressed up and I look like a girl!" Yes, I don't think she would have been mistaken as a boy.

In the photos below, Lukas is wearing a necklace that bears his name that he made at school last week.  He wanted to be sure to have something special to wear today too since he couldn't be outdone by his little sister!

Sledding Adventures

We arrived home from an unseasonably warm Christmas in Germany to snow in Boston!  So, this weekend we did some sledding in our own backyard as well as with the Dedham Parent Time group at the Community House across the street.  All four of us had a lot of fun!

Lukas standing behind the mound of snow that he and his Papa made as a starting point for sledding in our backyard. The cones are to mark where the kids are supposed to carry their sleds up the hill again so that they don't block the sledding hill for the next person.

It was fun that the hill was big enough and the snow compact enough that the adults could have a turn too!

Isa's First Day of Preschool

I can't believe that my baby has started preschool today.  How did that happen?  The time has passed so quickly!

She has been so excited since the beginning of the school year because she knew that she would get to be part of the Pinguine (Penguin) class at the German International School this January. She has been happily telling anyone who would listen for weeks now, "When I'm 'free' (three), I get to go to preschool!"  Well, the time has come (even before she turns three at the end of this month), for her to join in the fun at school.  She would have been able to start yesterday had she been on antibiotics for an ear infection one day longer, but what's one more day when you've been waiting what must have seemed like a life-time to our little girl?!

She came into our room at 7a.m. this morning, as soon as her alarm clock's green light went on, already fully dressed and asking, "Can we go downstairs for breakfast now?  I want to go to preschool!" Of course, we quickly obliged!
