Mice update

As of yesterday, we've caught four mice in our mouse traps and found one mouse lying dead in the middle of the basement....
Lauren has already gone back to Lowe's to stock up on traps!!

Lukas' First Bicycle Helmet

Now that the weather has finally become consistently warmer, Lukas has been able to get outside to ride his bike again.  We went shopping the other day for a helmet and the one you see here is what we came home with.  Lukas has never actually seen the movie "Cars", but he definitely seems to like things with the main character, Lightning McQueen, on them.  He has a small riding car (you see it in the background of the photos), gardening gloves, sport shoes, a Memory game, a sticker book and now a bicycle helmet all with the Cars theme.  He LOVES going out to ride his bike and is very proud of his new helmet--so much so that he wanted to take photos not only to show all of you, but to show his teachers at school as well!

Proudly sporting his new helmet

We got her!

For the last few months, we've had house guests - mice! We don't know how many they are, but we saw both indirect evidence as they ate their way through a bag of rice and a couple of cartons of bread mix as well as direct evidence - when the mouse showed up in our living room!! One evening, she wondered into the kitchen and got caught in the sink, but before we could react, she had climbed out and disappeared into a hole in the wall. Just remember that our house was built in 1854, so there are more holes and crevices than we can count!
Well, this weekend we were on a small shopping trip to the local DIY store when we came across a display of mouse traps and picked up a couple of them. Lukas and I set them up last night, filling the trap with yummy peanut butter and placing them in what we believed to be the mice's favorite spot - our basement pantry. Lukas was so excited and could hardly wait until the morning; he actually prayed for the mice before he went to bed!
Well, sure enough, his prayers were heard and this morning both of the basement traps had been triggered. Here you see Lukas holding one of them up - you can see the mouse's tail and Lukas pointed out to me that he could also see her feet...!

Anyway, we will be redeploying the traps that are currently on the top floor to the basement to see if there are any more mice to be found. Lauren is guessing we'll catch about six of them, I'm thinking there could be as many as eight! We'll keep you posted!
