Spontaneous Trips!

We had two spontaneous events occur simultaneously this past weekend--a visit and day-trip to the zoo with the Black Family for Olli and the kids and a trip to Colorado for Father's Day for me.  Both turned out to be wonderful memory-making events even though we would, of course, have preferred to experience them together as one family.

Due to unexpected illness of their original hosts, the Blacks called us on Thursday to find out if they could stay at our house while they visited Dedham from their home in New Hampshire.  After working out a few details and setting up several beds in our guest room, Olli was ready to host them all on his own--I hear he did a wonderful job!

My parents were hosting my grandfather at their home, so I had the privilege of flying out to see him and the rest of my Colorado family for the weekend.  It was a real treat to spend time with my grandpa, other family and a couple of friends during the whirl-wind trip.  We managed to fit in an improv comedy show, a meal with my friend Anna and her fiancé, a morning walk by a pond with my friend Kristin and her 8-month-old son, a fun afternoon playing with my niece and nephew as well as home-made ice cream at a belated birthday celebration for my sister and me, and a yummy BBQ for Father's Day.
