Oma and Opa just left after a nearly two week visit at our house. We all enjoyed our time together despite some illnesses (Lukas had the stomach flu and two subsequent days with fever, Isa had 24 hours with an unexplained high fever, and Lauren had a doozy of a sinus infection!). However, the sicknesses didn't keep us from enjoying each others' company and we still managed to get out of the house a bit in between fever onsets.
I, Lauren, participated in my first consignment sale last weekend, in which I entered nearly 350 items--mostly Lukas and Isa's old clothes--to sell. Oma and Opa were gracious enough to help us with the last (and hardest) stage of the process--printing and pinning/taping tags on all of the items and organizing them by gender/size to bring to the sale. They were also thoughtful enough to watch Lukas and Isabel while I worked my 4-hour shift to set-up the sale so that I could receive the full 70% back for my sold items. Needless to say, we took them out for a nice dinner to thank them for all of their help! ;-)
During their stay, we visited the Children's Museum as well as the Science Museum and Olli and his parents went to the JFK Presidential Library. We were also able to take advantage of a few warmer afternoons in our backyard and the "hiking" grounds nearby.
| The third floor was our main workshop for hanging the clothes, tagging the clothes, organizing the items etc. |
| Our tagging assembly line in action. Olli or I matched the tag with the clothes and Oma and Opa painstakingly (sometimes literally) put the safety pins through the tags and into the clothes |
