Winter Fun!

The year 2009 has started off well for the Höltje family. Here are a few photos to commemorate some of the fun times we've had together so far.

Here's Lukas with his papa just after having ridden on a sled for the first time (as well as having completed his first faceplant in the snow as a result--hence the red and grin-less face!)

Lukas is such a cuddly kid. He readily gives hugs to his stuffed animals (like this bear), his parents and his friends.

Lukas and I participate in a weekly playgroup. Here are Lukas' "best friends" at the moment: Max and Lauren

Wondering who the kid under the waste-basket is? (Take a wild guess!!)

Apparently, all Swiss pediatricians suggest buying a baby doll for children around 18 months old (regardless whether the child is a boy or girl) in order to help them learn empathy and compassion. We were not sure what Lukas would think of the baby doll we bought for him, but he played with it very nicely the first morning we took it out of the box. Hopefully that bodes well for when he becomes a big brother--although that WON'T be in the next nine months. Here he is very kindly feeding the boy baby doll--never mind that the baby doll is sitting on a potty at the same time. :-)

Lukas cradling his baby doll on his lap while he watches some video footage of himself playing with the baby doll earlier that morning.

Mommy and Lukas out for a sunny (yeah!) winter walk in the Jura mountains.

Lukas giving a hug to a REAL baby this time--our friends and neighbors' little boy, Dominik.
