Christmas in Colorado 2009

We returned a week ago from a wonderful visit with my family in Colorado for Christmas and New Years. It was so fun to watch Lukas enjoy his "Glan-pa", Yiayia, Thea Lesley, "Un-tle De-wick" and they him! Lukas enjoyed opening presents for Jesus' birthday--even if they weren't intended for him--and playing with his new toys. However, he found many other exciting activities to participate in besides playing with toys including baking projects with Yiayia, snowman building with Papa and Grandpa and LOTs of book-reading.

Lukas was an angel on the plane-ride to visit Yiayia and Grandpa. Perhaps it was mostly due to getting to watch cartoons on his own TV screen in the back of the seat in front of him?

Making his first snowman with Grandpa...

...a miniature snowman for a mini-patch of snow. Lukas still thought it was great and went to the window each morning to check if it was still there...until it melted.

Baking Finikia (Greek honey-dipped cookies) with Yiayia and Thea Lesley

Lukas was allowed to sprinkle the ground nuts on top

However, he was most impressed by Thea's honey-dipping skills!

A quick family photo on Christmas Eve

Christmas morning: Using his new plastic toolbox kit to "fix" the car

Playing with his digger--his new favorite toy. Thanks Thea Lesley and Uncle Derrick!

The good old-fashioned wooden toys are great too!

Enjoying his new tractor blanket--a special gift from Grandpa and a must-have at every bedtime since.

Reading some of his new books

Having the same books read to him by his aunt and uncle

Reading some special books with Grandpa--Yea for reading!

Hanging out with Thea Lesley

It snowed enough over Christmas that a proper-sized snowman could be built. This one was still standing when we left Colorado. Unfortunately, it melted enough to lose most of its teeth and one eye and Lukas definitely noticed this. Just today he was telling this to a friend of ours at church. The following were his exact words: "Snowman, melt, teeth fall down."

We never visit Colorado without spending some time with Olli's host-parents--Alan and Linda Ahlgrim. Here is Lukas with "Grandpa" Alan. Lukas was the one who requested going outside to see this old tractor that sits in the park that connects to the Ahlgrim's backyard.

We also spend time with my brother-in-law's parents--Bill and Pam Wildhaber. Since Lukas and "Uncle" Bill were in "partner-look", we couldn't resist taking this photo.
