A Few Highlights of Our Visit to Colorado

Lukas and I spent a total of 6 weeks in Colorado this summer--we went earlier than originally planned to participate in my best friend's wedding--and Olli joined us for the last 2 weeks of our time there. We had a lot of fun...we went on numerous walks, made a couple of visits to the mountains, saw lots of family and friends and, of course, did some good ol' American shopping in between. :-) Lukas changed so much during that time. He can now pull himself up to a standing position, walk while holding onto furniture and walls as well as his parents' hands, and climb stairs. He also has become quite proficient at feeding himself--although messily--and enjoys opening cupboards and emptying them of their contents.

I plan to put some videos on-line soon as well as a few more photos, but here are some to view in the meantime!

Like his Papa, Lukas is, naturally, a Broncos fan.

Feeding himself Cheerios--sadly, we didn't bring enough back with us so Mommy will have to go to the American store in Geneva (the first experience for her) and pay 3x the price for them!

Lukas "swimming" with Mommy in the "Big Pool".

Lukas "swimming" in his own pool.

Chewing on the string of the helium balloon Grandpa got for him was apparantly tastier than the cereal Papa was trying to feed him.

The Kirby, Höltje, Wildhaber clans on their family vacation in Snowmass, Colorado.

The CU Buffs fan--again, if his Papa likes it, so does Lukas!

Lukas cuddling with a talking/singing stuffed animal dog that was kindly lent to us while we were there. He adored the thing: much to the rest of the family's chagrin.

Lukas can now crawl "properly" on his hands and knees, but he still prefers "army" crawling on his belly most of the time because he's extremely fast when crawling along in that fashion.

Food on his face does not seem to bother Lukas--it's the wiping the food off his face part that he loathes.

Lukas pulled himself up on this chair...

...and then used it to walk over to the pillar next to it. He already seems to have a fascination with pillars--maybe it's the Greek part of him that makes pillars/columns so attractive to him! :-)

Here he is after climbing up 14 steps at my parent's house all by himself! Thankfully, we don't have any stairs inside our appartment in Geneva because Lukas' way of going down the stairs at the moment is lunging down head-first.

What a grand time we had together as one big, happy family. We made lots of good memories. Lukas is an awesome boy all around in my opinion!
